Happy New Year! I hope everyone is rested, refreshed and ready to be engaged! Our first meeting of the year is fast approaching: 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on February 7, 2017 at Davenport University located on the campus of Mott Community College in the RTC Room 1301. We will discuss issues related to LGTBQ – a timely topic. There have been many legislative changes and this topic has been in the news around the country. The more we, as counselors, know about those who identify as LGBTQ or are struggling with gender identification, the more effective we will be in assisting and advocating for our students, clients and friends. We will also discuss counseling best practices - this is a popular activity that we try to do at least once a year. As counselors, there are many effective strategies that we can share with one another. I know I always pick up at least one and often several best practices that I can use! Please bring at least one best practice to share with everyone! Please RSVP by Friday, January 27, 2017 to ensure adequate planning for this meeting on the "Meetings Page - February 7 meeting" on this website. We don’t always know what someone may be struggling with, but we can be prepared to provide acceptance, respect and needed assistance.
We look forward to learning more and seeing each of you February 7, 2017! Angela Angela M. Reeves, Ed.D. Licensed Professional Counselor Masters Social Worker License President, GACA |
